About the National Black Parenting Conference
The National Black Parenting Conference is a signature virtual event produced by Successful Black Parenting Magazine. It brings together parents, educators, experts, speakers, creators, and community leaders to elevate and empower Black families worldwide. The conference features keynote speakers, workshops, panels, and networking opportunities, making it a high-impact, mission-driven experience.
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and tech-savvy intern to support conference planning, speaker management, website updates, scheduling, digital coordination, and live event operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or emerging professional interested in event production, communications, digital media, or nonprofit programming.
Responsibilities
Conference Planning & Operations
• Assist with pre-event planning, scheduling, and run-of-show documents
• Update and maintain conference webpages, schedules, speaker listings, and registration information
• Organize digital files in Google Drive for presenters, sessions, and logistics
• Manage inbox communications related to the conference
• Track deadlines, follow-ups, and deliverables across all departments
• Assist with digital sponsor or exhibitor coordination
Speaker & Panelist Management
• Serve as the primary contact for speakers, panelists, workshop leaders, and moderators
• Send confirmations, appearance details, timelines, and speaker packets
• Collect bios, headshots, presentation slides, and tech requirements
• Schedule and host tech checks or rehearsals
• Maintain the programming schedule and notify speakers of session times
• Support speakers during live sessions to ensure smooth transitions
Marketing & Digital Promotion
• Assist with drafting captions and creating simple promo graphics
• Help maintain the conference page on Successful Black Parenting Magazine’s website
• Support social media promotion of sessions and speakers
• Assist with email newsletters and announcements
• Track basic social engagement and marketing responses
Live Event Production Support (During the 3-Day Virtual Conference – 1st weekend in February)
• Manage Zoom rooms, breakout rooms, and green rooms
• Assist speakers with joining sessions and testing audio/video
• Spotlight speakers, manage screen sharing, and run live transitions
• Keep sessions on schedule and communicate time updates
• Handle attendee questions in the chat
• Troubleshoot fundamental technical issues
• Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during live sessions
• Support giveaways, polls, or interactive moments
• Communicate with the SBP leadership team in real time about any issues
General Administrative & Coordination Tasks
• Maintain spreadsheets, timelines, and planning documents
• Support logistics from digital “catering moments” to giveaway coordination
• Help prepare conference materials and digital resource guides
• Keep communication records and notes organized
• Serve as a point-of-contact for internal team needs
Qualifications
• Highly organized with excellent time-management skills
• Strong communication and customer service abilities
• Comfortable navigating virtual event platforms such as Zoom or StreamYard
• Experience with WordPress or willingness to learn
• Basic design skills using Canva or similar tools
• Ability to multitask and remain calm during live events
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Passion for supporting the mission of Successful Black Parenting Magazine
• Must be available for the full 3-day virtual conference
