About the National Black Parenting Conference
The National Black Parenting Conference is a signature virtual event produced by Successful Black Parenting Magazine. It brings together parents, educators, experts, speakers, creators, and community leaders to elevate and empower Black families worldwide. The conference features keynote speakers, workshops, panels, and networking opportunities, making it a high-impact, mission-driven experience.
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and tech-savvy intern to support conference planning, speaker management, website updates, scheduling, digital coordination, and live event operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or emerging professional interested in event production, communications, digital media, or nonprofit programming.
Responsibilities
Conference Planning & Operations
โข Assist with pre-event planning, scheduling, and run-of-show documents
โข Update and maintain conference webpages, schedules, speaker listings, and registration information
โข Organize digital files in Google Drive for presenters, sessions, and logistics
โข Manage inbox communications related to the conference
โข Track deadlines, follow-ups, and deliverables across all departments
โข Assist with digital sponsor or exhibitor coordination
Speaker & Panelist Management
โข Serve as the primary contact for speakers, panelists, workshop leaders, and moderators
โข Send confirmations, appearance details, timelines, and speaker packets
โข Collect bios, headshots, presentation slides, and tech requirements
โข Schedule and host tech checks or rehearsals
โข Maintain the programming schedule and notify speakers of session times
โข Support speakers during live sessions to ensure smooth transitions
Marketing & Digital Promotion
โข Assist with drafting captions and creating simple promo graphics
โข Help maintain the conference page on Successful Black Parenting Magazineโs website
โข Support social media promotion of sessions and speakers
โข Assist with email newsletters and announcements
โข Track basic social engagement and marketing responses
Live Event Production Support (During the 3-Day Virtual Conference – 1st weekend in February)
โข Manage Zoom rooms, breakout rooms, and green rooms
โข Assist speakers with joining sessions and testing audio/video
โข Spotlight speakers, manage screen sharing, and run live transitions
โข Keep sessions on schedule and communicate time updates
โข Handle attendee questions in the chat
โข Troubleshoot fundamental technical issues
โข Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during live sessions
โข Support giveaways, polls, or interactive moments
โข Communicate with the SBP leadership team in real time about any issues
General Administrative & Coordination Tasks
โข Maintain spreadsheets, timelines, and planning documents
โข Support logistics from digital โcatering momentsโ to giveaway coordination
โข Help prepare conference materials and digital resource guides
โข Keep communication records and notes organized
โข Serve as a point-of-contact for internal team needs
Qualifications
โข Highly organized with excellent time-management skills
โข Strong communication and customer service abilities
โข Comfortable navigating virtual event platforms such as Zoom or StreamYard
โข Experience with WordPress or willingness to learn
โข Basic design skills using Canva or similar tools
โข Ability to multitask and remain calm during live events
โข Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
โข Passion for supporting the mission of Successful Black Parenting Magazine
โข Must be available for the full 3-day virtual conference
