About the Internship
Successful Black Parenting Magazine is seeking a highly organized, creative, and media-savvy intern to support the Publisher with brand operations, social media management, speaking engagement coordination, and event coverage. This role is ideal for a student or emerging creator who is passionate about social media strategy, working with celebrities, video content creation, influencer-style brand work, and behind-the-scenes media operations.
This is a remote position, but the intern must live in Atlanta or the Metro Atlanta area, as they will attend local events, document experiences, and receive products for review and brand content.
Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
• Manage the Publisher’s and SBP’s social media posting schedule
• Create engaging video content, Reels, short clips, and behind-the-scenes content
• Post product reviews and brand partnerships on social media
• Maintain a consistent SBP voice and brand aesthetic
• Manage access and passwords for social media platforms
• Track analytics and engagement to recommend improvements
• Coordinate with other interns or team members who post to SBP channels
Publisher Support & Brand Operations
• Maintain the Publisher’s calendar for meetings, interviews, and speaking engagements
• Schedule virtual and in-person events, tech checks, and travel confirmations
• Assist with preparation for keynotes, podcast interviews, media appearances, and conferences
• Draft emails, documents, and social posts as needed
• Manage inbox organization and follow-up tasks
• Serve as a point of contact for incoming brand opportunities
Event Coverage (Atlanta Area)
• Attend local Atlanta events on behalf of Successful Black Parenting Magazine (often evening hours)
• Record video content and take photos for social media
• Interview attendees, creators, or brand reps when needed
• Capture behind-the-scenes footage, stories, and live moments
• Deliver recap content for SBP social platforms
Product Reviews
• Receive review items at home (beauty products, parenting tools, tech, books, etc.)
• Photograph, video record, test, and review items
• Create engaging content that aligns with SBP’s tone
• Submit written and video reviews for approval
• Manage brand deadlines and posting schedules
Administrative Support
• Support project planning for major SBP initiatives
• Assist with document organization and digital filing
• Coordinate virtual meetings
• Support communications with partners, collaborators, and brands
• Report weekly updates to the Publisher
• Handle small-but-important administrative details that keep operations running smoothly
Qualifications
• Must live in Atlanta or Metro Atlanta and have reliable transportation
• Strong skills in social media content creation, especially video
• Experience with Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and trending formats
• Skilled in Canva, CapCut, or similar editing tools
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professional presence when attending events
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Passion for Black parenting, family empowerment, and digital media
• Comfortable receiving physical products for review
