Trying to conceive can be a nightmare for some couples, and often it can seem like it might not ever happen. Here are some non-medical tips to boost the chances of pregnancy when trying.

Change Your Diet

Everything that happens in your body is affected by what you eat. And it can be a very important factor when trying to get pregnant. Foods high in fiber and protein are the best for ovulation. Seeds and grains, fresh fruit and greens, and oily fish are good examples. Yogurt and other foods that have probiotics can also help. Both have healthy bacteria that help the body work well. Lactobacillus, which is found in fermented foods, is one of the best probiotics for fertility.

“Some have found that married Black and Latina women are more likely to be infertile than White women.”

Know Your Cycle

Getting pregnant is often a good sign that things are going well. There is a window of time when you are most likely to get pregnant. It can help to know what to look for, such as a change in your cervix’s mucus. It tends to get thin and slippery when you are most fertile. You might also only feel pain on one side of your belly. If you don’t know when this will happen, you can also buy ovulation kits that you can use at home. These kits will notify you if you are ovulating or not.

Boost the Chances of Pregnancy with Exercise

Working out can be a great way to improve your chances of getting pregnant. One of the main reasons is that it helps get rid of body fat. Excess body fat can increase the amount of estrogen in your system. Which, in turn, can change the way your body ovulates, making it harder to get pregnant. But you should also know that too much exercise can stop you from ovulating at all. Most experts say that you should spend about 30 minutes a day doing light exercises.

Use Natural Lubricants

Lubricants are often used during sex. Some can make it more fun, while others can speed up the process. No matter the reason, some lubricants can stop you from getting pregnant. Products like K-Y and Astroglide that are sold in stores can make it harder for sperm cells to move. If you need to use lubricant, experts in sexual health suggest natural remedies that won’t change the process. Mineral oil, canola oil, and Pre-Seed products are recommended.

Quit Harmful Vices

Many harmful things can make it harder to get pregnant. These are usually your worst habits, some you should try to give up at least from the time you are pregnant until you give birth. Some of these are smoking cigarettes or marijuana, drinking alcohol, coffee, or soda, and doing drugs like cocaine. All of these mess with the way your body works naturally and can make it much harder to get pregnant over time. They can also cause permanent damage.

You can boost the chances of pregnancy by making some lifestyle changes and educating yourself a little. You can try things such as switching to a high-fiber and protein diet. Or you can lose body fat with exercise. And it always helps to quit harmful vices like smoking and drinking.
