Recipes to Combat Postpartum Hair Loss

Dr. Kari Williams (Trichologist, creator of Goddess Locs, Stylist to Meagan Good, Ava Duvernay) and Chef Tirzah Love (Celebrity Chef and Owner of Tirzah Catering LLC.), have joined forces to create a few simple recipes to fight postpartum hair loss.

“Postpartum hair loss can set in any day after your baby arrives, and it sometimes continues as long as a year.”

According to Trichologist, Dr. Kari Williams, “Healthy hair starts with a healthy diet. Vitamins and nutrients are most beneficial for hair strength and growth when they are digested.

Sweet potatoes and kale are rich in Vitamin A which is necessary for cell growth and the production of sebum, which is the oil our scalp naturally produces. Having a sufficient amount of Vitamin A in your body supports hair growth and protects the hair from becoming dry and brittle. The bacon is a good source of protein. Hair is mostly made of protein so adequate consumption of this macronutrient is important to promote hair growth, strengthen the hair strand and make strands thicker. If you are vegetarian try a protein-rich substitute for the bacon like Sweet Earths Hickory and Sage Smoked Seitan Bacon.”
