Every parent wants their kid to stand out in the crowd with their chubby charm and cute clothes. This wish can lead most parents to spend hours styling wardrobes for kids. Little do they know that styling your kid isn’t that much of rocket science.

If you’ve got your grip tightened on the basic four-parent hacks for styling kids, no one can outshine your kids; okay maybe a little bit.

In this guide, we have four short ‘should and should nots’ for styling your tiny tots. Keep reading below to learn more.

Style Tip #1: Explore More with the Kids

The first and foremost thing to remember while styling your kids is to explore different themes and color tones with them. We know how much kids love a certain color but try to get them to wear colors that suit their personality. For example, if your kid is a bright, jolly child, dress them up in yellow. Same way, explore your kid’s color as per their season, skin tone, and hair color.

Style Tip #2: Keep an Eye on the Trends

Following the latest trends is cool because as a parent, it will evolve your limited knowledge about your kid’s clothes. When we say, keep an eye on trends, we don’t mean to dress your kid according to the latest fashion trends, but to incorporate a few of the latest fashionable pieces into their wardrobe whenever possible. This way, you’ll have a variety of options to choose from whenever styling your kids.

Style Tip #3: Hoard on the Classics

The best advice for styling kids that we could ever give a parent – is to grab the classics! Everybody likes a good leather jacket men or a leather jacket women on a tiny preschooler. Plus, it lessens your burden of matching and styling clothes for the kids. That’s the thing with classics, they’re effortlessly beautiful on everyone. Just imagine your kid in simple jeans, a white tee, and a leather or denim jacket; looks good, right?

Style Tip #4: Teach Along the Way

The last styling tip of the day is to involve your kids in the process. Lightly discuss color theories and color combinations with them in an age-appropriate way. Teach them about occasions and the kind of dress you wear on those particular occasions. This way, when you’re out of ideas, those tiny tots can support you with their imagination, which can get wild, let us tell you.

Mistake #1: Running After Aesthetics

One common mistake most parents make these days is dressing their kids according to the old-money aesthetic after LA’s sweetheart Sophia Richie. This means no graphic tees, no bright colors, and no fun clothes for the kids. Trust us, it’s a devastating thing to do to kids because physiologically, colors, art, and silhouette can affect your kids.

Mistake #2: Stifle the Kids’ Personal Styling Sense

Styling your kids is good until a point, and that point is when your kid is not independent. Stopping them from taking over just because you enjoy that time with them is not fostering their development. Once your baby starts showing responsibility for things like toys, potty training, and bathing, let them pick their clothes. Giving them the reins of their wardrobe sometimes can help build confidence.

Mistake #3: Reflect Your Style on the Kids

Everybody has a personal style; some like gothic, others cottage core. It’s okay to dress your kids like you do on certain days or even twin with them. However, filling the kids’ wardrobe with your style only stifles their creativity. It can leave your kids feeling confused, and bored of that style.

Mistake #4: Force the Kids to Choose Style Over Comfort

Always pick comfort over style. You want to keep your child happy and autonomous. Many times, kids’ clothes, especially fancy frocks for girls can be scratchy, making the kids itchy and cranky. Keep that in mind when selecting the appropriate outfits for your child.
