Goals For Next Year, Yes You Can Make Them

This year has been like no other many of us will have ever experienced before. At the start of the year, no one could have predicted that the world would go into lockdown, that businesses would have to shut down, that you needed to stay at home, or that children couldn’t go to school. The impact this had on your life is questionable. Everybody’s situation has been different. We are not out of the woods yet and with many countries in the midst of a second peak, it isn’t looking too great right now. But that doesn’t mean to say that you can’t look ahead into the new year and make some goals to finally get things back on the right track.



There is no denying that you will have been impacted by the year we have all just had. Your mental health may have been affected because you have had to stay at home. It could be you have lost your job or valuable income. Maybe your business had to shut its doors and now you are wondering how you will get back on track. It has been difficult. But, you can still look ahead to a positive future, and making goals can help you to take the right steps to make it happen. With that in mind, here are some of the common goals for next year that you could consider.

Get Your Finances In Order

Finances may not sound like an obvious thing to associate with your 2018 goals, but actually, some of it really does go hand in hand. For example, say you have a goal to travel somewhere specific on holiday. How will that be paid for? Maybe you want to join a gym so that you can get fitter. Can you afford the additional monthly spend? While it may sound boring it is actually very practical to look over your financial situation and ensure that you can do all of the things you want. Or enable you to put yourself into a situation where you can make it happen. This is when you may want to tackle outstanding debts you have. Perhaps you just want to boost your income in some way, so knowing what you need extra can help you make some savings such as meal planning to reduce your food spend, or even decluttering and selling unwanted items online.



Make Plans For The Year Ahead

It may feel like we can’t do much right now, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make plans for the future, so what is it you want to achieve? Perhaps this year has shown that you need to move on in terms of your home. Maybe a larger property or you might want to move somewhere different to follow a path of work or a dream you have had. Of course, getting things in motion is key and looking online at elements such as the Hdb interest rate could help you. The goals might not be about moving, but more about you living more. Maybe when things have calmed down you want to travel. Perhaps realising how lucky we were to be able to freely go places before lockdowns and Covid-19 happened. It could be that you want to change your career and change the way you do things. Start your own business or turn a hobby that you have into something more. Thinking about these things are important to help you get motivated to make them happen.

Write Them Down Or Visually Remind Yourself

It is also important for you to write down those goals so that you can be reminded what it is you want to do. Journaling is a great way to make a note of the things that you want to do. Another thing to consider would be a vision board. If you are a more visual person then this could be a great exercise to help you feel motivated towards making those goals possible. Print off pictures of the things you want, such as the dream house, the holiday, a plane to associate thoughts of travel, things you want in your life. The vision board is designed to be a visual element of what you want. Then place it somewhere that you can see everyday. Change Your Mindset

You mind is a powerful tool, and it is actually the difference between you failing and succeeding. Want to know how? Negativity and a negative thought process can stop you reaching your full potential. If you think that you may be struggling with your mindset, then you could look at switching things around and focusing on the positive. It may feel forced at first, but like anything habits develop and you won’t’ believe the difference it could make. Your mindset could be the key to unlocking how you approach things moving forward, so take some time to really focus on the things you can change, such as your reaction to things.

Create An Action Plan To Make It Happen

Finally, you know what you want, you are in the right mindframe to make it happen, and you have financial backing thanks to a quick overhaul of your financial situation and making some decisions on what you need to do, now you need to make an action plan to make it happen. Think of the steps it will take to make that goal into a reality. Booking that holiday, starting that fitness journey, making more effort with your blog or business idea and putting time into it. Whatever the actions are, have a plan on how you are going to achieve the goals. This is also an ideal time ot set yourself smaller targets which will keep you motivated along the way.
