Fun and Inexpensive Activities for Mother’s Day

The best Mother’s Day gift you can give to your Mom is your time. COVID-19 has made it tricky for families to see each other in person, but with a bit of creativity and ingenuity, you can still see your Mom on her special day. Show your appreciation for that special lady in your life by taking part in these five fun and inexpensive activities that can be done at home or safely in person.

Don’t Forget the Flowers

Although you’ll be excited to share some time with your Mom, you can still give her one or two gifts that she’s sure to love. At Bouqs.com, you can browse through plenty of fresh-cut flowers and potted plants that can be delivered with same-day shipping. Flowers are the perfect way to tell your Mom that you’re thinking about her no matter where either of you lives. Add a box of chocolates, a teddy bear, and some balloons to complete this classic Mother’s Day gift.

1. Breakfast in Bed: Cooking or Delivery

Mothers love being pampered, and getting a decent breakfast cooked by someone else is the perfect treat. If you live with your Mom, you can cook a smorgasbord of pancakes, sausages, bacon, eggs, and waffles that will suit her tastes. However, if you live apart, you can order a fresh breakfast from a local cafe and have it delivered. Hopefully, your Mom lives with someone else, so they can surprise her with the breakfast you delivered before she wakes up.

2. Museum Outing: Traveling or Virtual

Most cities have at least one museum, whether it’s an art museum, a science museum, or something in-between. Ask your Mom to accompany you to a museum that encompasses her hobbies or general interests. You’ll be able to walk around at a safe distance, but if your Mom is far away, you can try a virtual tour. There are dozens of museums worldwide that offer virtual tours, like the National Gallery of Art, Musee D’Orsay, and the Rijksmuseum.

3. Picnic: Together or FaceTime

Picnics on road trips are super fun to do with families. You and your Mom can pack your favorite lunch and enjoy the spring day in the sunshine. If you have children, let them join in on the fun because there will probably be many kids at the park for them to play with. If you’re countries apart, ask your Mom to set up a date via FaceTime or Zoom where both of you can chat and talk in the park. It may feel weird at first to speak on video software in public, but you’ll get used to it.

4. Take a Class: In-Person or Online

Explore a new experience together by taking a trip to a convention center or a local school for an in-person class. Your Mom likely has an interest in a hobby she hasn’t had the time to research, so suggest something like a cooking, painting, or yoga class to get started. Even if you can’t see your Mom in person, you can still spend quality time together by taking a virtual class. There are all kinds of online courses available, and a large chunk of them are free.

5. Host a Bingo Night: At Home Together or At Home Apart

Depending on the size of your family, you can host a bingo night filled with prizes, laughs, and maybe a bit of alcohol. You can create bingo cards for free online, and you can use an app that will generate bingo numbers with a single click. When you can’t meet in person, you can still use a website or app to create bingo cards. Set up a Zoom conference that all of the family can join and start playing by creating a room at Free Bingo Cards or on a casino website.
