5 Amazing Ways To Make Easter Special This Year

January 20, 2021

Holidays are a great way to start traditions with your family. Christmas has come and gone but we still have Easter to look forward to creating memories. Easter doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves and it’s usually overshadowed by Christmas, so the kids don’t tend to get as excited about it.

If you want Easter to be extra special this year, here are some ways to get your kids excited about it.

Teach Them The Story Of Easter

Whether you are religious or not, the story of Easter and the resurrection is still part of the holiday, so you should consider teaching it to your kids. You don’t need to present it in a particularly religious way if you don’t want to but telling them the story will provide more meaning to the holiday and get them more engaged with it. For religious parents, this is particularly important because the original meaning of these holidays is often lost and it becomes more about chocolate eggs than Jesus. You can also teach the pagan origins of Easter and how the symbolism worked its way into the religious celebration that we know today.

Get Some Easter Outfits

Christmas sweaters have really taken off in the last couple of years, but people don’t always do the same around Easter. Why not change that and get a toddler easter shirt and some matching outfits for you? It makes the holiday a bit more special, so it feels like more of an event. You don’t have to get a full bunny outfit to make Easter more exciting, but consider getting a few tops or sweaters featuring rabbits.

Ditch The Chocolate Eggs

Chocolate eggs are traditional at Easter and most kids get excited about chocolate, but you can make the holiday more exciting if you ditch the chocolate eggs and give the kids something more interesting instead. These no-sugar Easter bags, for example, get rid of the chocolate eggs in favor of some fun, educational books about notable African American figures from history. This makes Easter special and gives the kids an opportunity to learn some important history at the same time.

Create A Scavenger Hunt

Whether you are going for chocolate eggs or something else, you should consider creating a scavenger hunt instead of doing a normal Easter egg hunt. There are some great sites online where you can find tips on how to set one up, and it’s sure to be a hit. The normal Easter egg hunt can be a bit of an anti-climax but if you spend some time putting a scavenger hunt together, you can make it a fun activity for the whole family to get involved in.

Do Some Crafts

After the scavenger hunt is over, you should set up some Easter crafts for the kids. It’s a fun way to encourage their creative side and enjoy an activity together. You could even extend the fun over a few days if you get the kids to help you make some decorations beforehand.

Follow these simple tips to make Easter a more exciting holiday for the whole family this year.
