Getting ready for your first child is a wondrous time. A time of excitement, joy, trepidation and hope. A real mixed bag of emotions. There is so much to do, so much to prepare for and so much change afoot. That’s why it pays to be prepared for everything.

And one thing you don’t want to leave until the last minute is preparing your baby’s nursery. In this useful article, we’re going to share seven steps toward putting together a first-time nursery.

A Safe Bassinet

The first step is to buy a baby cot, or bassinet. Now, you may be tempted to buy these second-hand or accept donations from friends and family – but infant sleep safety is of the utmost importance, so check your local authorities website to ensure that your cot or bassinet is completely safe for baby.

Fresh Paint

You’ll want to have your nursery freshly painted for when your baby arrives. Opt for soft, muted tones instead of harsh, bright colors. The idea is to create a peaceful place of rest, free of any stimulation. Think soft creams, light blues, or even pale yellows for color schemes. Paint the room before the baby is due so the fumes are all gone in time for their arrival.

A Chest Of Drawers

The next thing on your to-do list should be to purchase a dresser. You’re going to want to store all those adorable baby clothes somewhere, and a chest of drawers is the perfect place for them.

You can even place some lovely little decorations and ornaments on top of the drawers to give the room some charm.

Acquire A Change Table

A change table is a must because you’ll be changing lots of diapers for a while. A changing table can save your back from pain from crouching or kneeling and it allows you to change your baby while standing up. Change tables often come with storage solutions, so you can keep all your changing equipment like wipes, powder, and other necessities nearby.

A Video Monitor

A video monitor is another item you need to have in your nursery, so you can keep an eye on your baby while they sleep. It will also wake you during the night when your infant needs to feed or needs cuddling to settling down.

A monitor will help you relax in another room, without having to worry about how your baby is traveling.

A Comfortable Chair

A comfy chair is necessary for the parents, not the baby. You’ll need somewhere to sit and feed your child and stay comfortable while they breastfeed or drink their bottle. A rocking chair might be a good idea, so you can rock back-and-forth while they feed, keeping you both at ease.

Climate Control

You’ll need some form of climate control in the nursery, whether that’s a heater and a fan or a split system. Infants have a difficult time regulating their body temperature, so keep the climate optimal for them during the winter and summer months.

A Cute Conclusion

Setting up your nursery is easy. Get a good chest of drawers, and give the room a fresh coat of paint. Buy a safe cot or bassinet, and invest in a changing table. A video monitor will help you to relax while your baby sleeps. And a comfortable chair for the parents is a must. Finally, make sure that the room has some form of climate control to keep the temperature in the room comfortable for your little one.

It often happens that mothers go to work, and a nanny remains at home with the baby. The video baby monitor will help you keep abreast of all events. You will be able to be more confident in the good treatment of the teacher with the baby and calm for the mental and physical health of your child, and this is one of the values of loving parents.
