HOUSTON, TX — July 28th is National Buffalo Soldiers Day and was commemorated to celebrate the establishment of the U.S. Army’s first peacetime regime of African American soldiers, but did you know there’s a museum that you can visit in Houston, Texas to celebrate these heroes? Whether you live in Houston or visiting, the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is a real treat to see reenactments of history’s most famous African American figures.

“The nickname buffalo soldiers began with the Cheyenne warriors in 1867. The actual Cheyenne translation was Wild Buffalo. The nickname was given out of respect and the fierce fighting ability of the 10th cavalry.
