Kids get sick, that is just a fact of life, but there’s a lot as parents that we can do to keep them as healthy as possible, as well as to deal with illness when it does rear its head. In fact, you can get some simple and clear advice on how to keep your one-to-three year old as healthy as possible in the post below. Read on to find out more.

Food

One of the most important things you can do to keep your toddler healthy and happy is to ensure that they are eating the right foods. Sadly, this is often more easily said than done because kids at that age are known to go through phases where they are fussy about what they eat.

Happily, even if your little one is having some difficulties around eating, with a bit of effort and patience, it is still possible to lay a positive and healthy foundation with the food they will need as they grow up. In fact, experts suggest that by offering them smaller meals and reducing snacks it’s possible to navigate this phase without any lasting food issues.

Exercise and Sleep

Next, when it comes to keeping your toddler healthy, they are going to need both enough exercise and enough rest. The difficulty here comes from the fact that they aren’t always able to recognize or verbalize what they need in this situation.

Instead, you may end up with a stressed child that is overtired, or a child that is misbehaving because they have too much energy that they need to burn off.

Emergencies

There is nothing more terrifying for a parent than when your child is involved in a medical emergency. To make matters worse, it is often hard to tell whether they are experiencing a serious issue or something that doesn’t need immediate medical attention.

Of course, the solution here is to always err on the side of caution and take them to the nearest hospital with an emergency facility for pediatrics in your local area. Then you know they will be assessed by experts that specialize in the health and care of children and will be able to distinguish a serious issue from less worrisome ones.

Screenings and Immunizations

Lastly, as a parent concerned with keeping your toddler healthy, it is crucial that you take them for all their health screening and immunizations.

Yes, I know there is a lot of talk about whether the latter can be dangerous or not, but in truth, immunizations are designed to stop illness that can be a real risk to your toddler’s health. Past diseases are now seeing a resurgence because fewer people are immunizing their kids. To that end, if you want to keep your toddler healthy, it’s crucial that they get the shots appropriate to their age.

You also need to make sure you keep a regular check on your toddler’s oral and eye health as well. If you wear women’s glasses yourself, you will know how critical this is.

Holistic Care

We always keep children’s echinacea on-hand to give our kids at the first sign of a cold or flu, as well as chewable vitamin C tablets. It may not prevent the cold but it will often lessen the symptoms or shorten the cold’s duration opposed to others who became sick in our household. Be sure your children are taking their daily organic multivitamin.
